Issues Matrix and Needs
Discussion Question:
In your groups, review/discuss each of the following three areas for a successful organization:
• Delivering Customer Satisfaction
• Operational Excellence
• Maximizing People Potential
Steps
1. For each area, list at least three to five (3-5) specific needs for your area of responsibility.
2. Once you’ve compiled your list, place each need on an ‘Issues Matrix’ where one axis represents
• Urgency (how soon does the need require attention) and the other axis represents
• Impact (the potential effect on the organization if the need is not met).
3. After plotting the needs on the matrix, discuss:
a) Why did you place each need where you did on the matrix?
b) How addressing these needs could influence the organization’s strategic priorities.
c) What actions should be taken first based on this matrix analysis?
